Well to me, I rattled that off in minutes, I just think and write fast on
NG's, so I just take it for what it is. Sorry if offend you by insulting
NG's, but if not taking this NG in particular or what I say *on this
medium*
too seriously, sorry, but I don't see many intelligent posts here, just a
bunch of flame wars. It's not like there are many brilliant folk on
usenet, not saying I'm one, nor did I, and I did make fun of myself plenty
of times, so really don't get your attitude, and broad general put downs
are
a dime a dozen. OK, you might say you write and think lousy too, touche'.
As for Carlin, I was referring to the tone of what I said of something he
might phrase.
Finally, saw Trey last night, and it was one of the top five times I've
seen
him play. I like his attempt at shorter tunes, and especially him writing
lyrics, as I've been calling for that for years. Plus the 20 minute sick
jams (1st set Sand and many 2nd set tunes contained amazingly tight medium
long jams, where he mixed styles of guitar at the right times, and was on
top of it-very Yes/Rush like in some aspects--although comparisons are
hard
especially in writing as one might misinterpret, like what Trey and rush
or
yes, where do you get that--And if that angers you the first time I heard
Mr. Completely it reminded me of Wings-The band obviously) are still
there,
but focussed again. In the 2nd set, I even shed a tear to some new songs,
thinking wow that **** was affecting him, he is back and better than ever.
Some people hate the new stuff. It's weird the friends I had who were
sober
or towards that end loved it, the friends i have least experienced and on
blow hated the new tunes. Also the new "poppy songs" IMHO at least kick
ass
on, "When the light ****nes....
He's getting there on the one thing that has allluded him, and no;
Bouncin'
or Heavy Ihings I don't consider "big pop hits." Cobain wanted to write
pop
songs and took **** for it, The Beatles, as well as Lennon and Macca
individually, wrote many, and they set the standard for rock in my book.
I want Trey to get a top 20 hit, he's worked hard, and he deserves it.
And
if you don't think that matters to "cool bands", The Beatles would not
come
to the States until they had a number #1 as we all know. Now Trey and the
Beatles are different in ohh so many ways (pun intended), but the point is
every recording artist wants a big hit, whether they admit it or not.
Look
how happy Santana was when he swept the Grammy's a few years back (And how
happy many cool performers were for him), granted IMHO, the Grammy's suck.
Finally Phish=Change, wow profound, I am amazed...with you. Not that you
care but I'm just teasing you. I agree on what you say on they must write
new material, and it was kind of what I was getting at, but maybe you were
more concerned with my isulting a ****ing NG, or them in general. Have a
good one.
