The most famous of all movie cartoon characters makes his very first
appearance on the screen this day when Walt Disney's "Steamboat
Willie" is released--and introduces the world to its star......Mickey
Mouse
JULY 29 1955
Led by Yvonne Mills,The Sensations record record four tracks in New
York City for Atlantic Records. "Yes Sir, That's My Baby"/"Sympathy"
is released on Atco in November, "My Heart Cries For You" appears on a
later single in 1956 and "Right Or Wrong" doesn't appear at all

Capitol records this day take the unusual step of issuing a series of
consecutive singles from the new hit movie musical "High Society".One
of them is a duet between Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly on a catchy Cole
****ter number that will go on to become a huge pop hit---"True Love"

Imperial signs Ricky Nelson to an exclusive long term recording
contract.
Jack Paar begins a successful five-year run as host of "The Tonight
Show"on NBC-TV, changing its name to "The Jack Paar Show"

The Coasters (Carl Gardner, Billy Guy, Cornel Gunter,Will 'Dub' Jones)
have another session at the Atlantic Studio in New York City, produced
by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The session produces "Shoppin' For
Clothes" (a very good version of the earlier---and even better---
"Clothes Line" by Kent Harris---issued as by "Boogaloo---on Crest)
which is scheduled for early single release---Thumbin' A Ride" which
will appear as a "B" side in 1961 whilst "Dog Face" is sadly not
issued.
Marv Johnson, the Miracles and Barrett Strong are at Wa****ngton's
Howard Theater.
Elvis Presley begins filming "Flaming Star."
The Brothers Four and The Royal Teens guest on "American Bandstand"
