Big Band wow: "What A Difference A Day Made" - Kay Starr with Charlie

by "yougotlucky215@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <yougotlucky215@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 29, 2008 at 08:40 PM

Not exactly hi-fi, as this sounds like it was uploaded from a WWII
vintage shellac 78, but of course, that's how records were made in
those days. I enjoy it in better fidelity on Smithsonian's "Swing
That Music!" boxed set, now sadly deleted, and a collector's item non-
pareil, etc.

Many of you are familiar with the great Dinah Wa****ngton remake of 15
years later (and slightly different/changed title - {"Makes"} etc.),
but if you haven't heard this first big splash for this song, then
have a listen. I like to think of it not so much in comparison the
DW remake, but as part of, and in and of the family of the great big
band hits of the wartime, this from 1944:
