i've watched every PBS oldies concert (i think) several times and one of
the things that stands out is that the women in their 50s and 60s are
singing along wide mouthed, whereas the males are either mute or hardly
move their lips and probably can't be heard 2 seats away.
yet, at oldies conventions, my guess the the atendees are over 90% male.
what is wrong with us that we are too self conscious to sing along?
this is no artificial anecdotal observation. i've been to dozens and
dozens of oldies concerts through the years, and it is ALWAYS the same.
why are we so uptight?
