I recently rediscovered Lindisfarne's "Lady Eleanor", and very
impressed I was too, to my surprise, as I'd found them very mediocre
and not at all to my taste when they were about.
I Googled the lyrics and found (first verse):-
"Bashee playing magician sitting lotus on the floor,
Belly dancing beauty with a power driven saw,
Had my share of nightmares, didn't think there could be much more
Then in walked Roderick Usher with the Lady Eleanor."
I then Googled "Bashee", but to no avail, so I can't make any sense
of the first phrase. Can any one else? The rest of the lyrics
intermingle very hauntingly and skilfully with the music, with the
exception of the final "I'm all right, here in your arms", which is
clumsy, unmusical and overdramatic. Never mind, still nine out of ten
for that song.
Adam.
