Frankie Valli Closeup/Valli CD Review

I just received my copy of the recently released CD of Frankie Valli's
Closeup and Valli LP's Catalog #CCM-928.

Listening to the CD I have to say I am pleased with this purchase. It
was without a doubt remastered from tape as you can hear some hiss at
the beginning and end of songs. I was stunned though to see that the
cd included not the LP version(10:09) of Swearin' To God or the 12"
version(10:15) but included on this CD is the promotional 12" version
issued only to DJ's and was just slightly longer(10:35) than the
commercial 12" which was released in 1976 and included the tracks
Boomerang and Can't Get You Off My Mind as the 3 cuts on that single
which in turn was just slightly longer than the LP version.

UNI would go off the deep end though because this CD although credited
and released by Collector's Choice Music is actually manufactured by
his least favorite label RHINO.


To Rhino and Collector's Choice, I say WELL DONE!!! Closeup was the
one FV album I was anxiously awaiting a CD release of and finally as
of June 24, 2008, that CD is here and was well worth the wait.

Now if only Rhino and/or Collector's Choice would get hold of the HJ&F
masters of Fallin' In Love and it's follow-up and reissue them at the
correct speed unlike the inferior mastered from vinyl slowed down
release that Renaissance put out in 2005, I would be very happy. If
nothing else maybe I could seek out a professional service to remaster
my 8-track copy.
