What is a good comprehensive book on world music history/theory?

by nono umasy <nigelinsouthamerica@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 11, 2008 at 10:26 PM

just wondering if there is a good book that covers not only western
tradition of music but the whole world.
so something that would go over how the interval of 5ths formed the
asiatic scales as oppose to how it developed in the west?

just want to expand my music theory/knowledge outside the western
realm.

thanks in advance.
