There are many mnemonic rules, discussed here before, and others may 
post some here again.

But the Western key signatures result from transposing in fifths. So 
write the pitches in the "circle of fifths".
   Fb Cb Gb Db Ab Eb Bb  F  C  G  D  A  E  B  F# C# G# D# A# E# B#
or easier to remember:
   Fb Cb Gb Db Ab Eb Bb
   F  C  G  D  A  E  B
   F# C# G# D# A# E# B#

The key signature simply indicates the used pitches. Western C major and 
A pure minor uses only pitches without accidentals, so one gets the key 
signature as a translation. (Historically, these were developed among 
the pitches A B C D E F G without transpositions.)

You get C minor by moving the A minor set above 3 steps to the left, so 
it uses the pitches:
   Ab Eb Bb  F  C  G  D
