Take a chord progression, say vi ii7b V7 I: This will confirm the key
of I, whatever that is.
The retrograde of this progression (i.e. the progression played
backwards) is I V7 ii7b vi. The overall effect of this progression
will be to sound like it's not in the key of whatever I happens to be,
despite being written in I.
