Well, I'm putting a symbol in the Guitar, Piano, and Bass parts at this
point. I suppose it's "OK" if they play the A. My inderstanding is, even
if
I write GMaj7, there's a strong possibility that any one of those players
will add a 9th (and for that matter #11, or a 13 , etc.).

Right, that's what I assumed. Hell, they could go outside and it really
doesn't matter. I would put it in their part only to let them know what I
was putting in the others' parts.

The ride I have is very simple:
||: DM7 - GM7 - DM7 - bm7 - Em9 - A9 - Em9 - A9 :||
I don't see any point in puttin in the 9ths in the first 4 meausres. The
only reason I included them in the last four is becuase the other
instruments come in with little counter-melody descending lines in
parallel
3rds/6ths that touch on the 9ths of those chords and it seems the
accompaniment works better including the 9ths under those.
