Thank you Tom. It is late and I will look into this book further, but
I saw at the first scan that he does seem to considerer it a
modulation and that he is calling it an "Attendant Chord" for lack of
having a term already in place. Too bad! He almost said Secondary
Dominant instead! I wonder if it would have caught on then if he had
written it and if Piston would have changed it "Attendant Chord" in
his theory writings. lol

Isn't Google books a lot better than Wiki!!!
