More likely from hexachords or tetrachords ("incipient" scales).

I think you meant Diminished 5th.

Almost - when enlarging a perfect or major interval by one semitone, it 
becomes "augmented" but the term "augmented major" isn't used.  When 
reducing a perfect or minor interval by one semitone, it then becomes 
"diminished", but not "diminished minor".
