Density rows

by knucmo <stevejouanny@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 2, 2008 at 03:04 PM

Hello there,

I have a question on John Cage - I am vaguely familiar with his
notions of square-root form, his idiosyncratic 23-note row, chance
operations, and indeterminism, but at on a radio programme I was
listening to, I have heard it spoken of the great man that he also
experimented with 'density rows'. Unfortunately, the speaker did not
give any explanation of this concept that sounds like it has come out
of physics rather than music, but I was intrigued by it. Does anyone
know of what he meant?
