CHARLIE DORE WINS TOP HONORS AT FOURTH ANNUAL IAMA (INTERNATIONAL
ACOUSTIC MUSIC AWARDS).
Charlie Dore (England, UK) won the top prize at Fourth annual IAMA
(International Acoustic Music Awards). The singer-songwriter also won
first prize in the Folk category.
Charlie Dore hit the top of the charts in the late 70's/early 80's
with her song "Pilot of the Airwaves", she since reinvented herself as
a Folk Singer-songwriter and also written hit songs for big name
artists such as Tina Turner, Celine Dion, George Harrison, Lisa
Stansfield, Jimmy Nail, Sheena Easton and Hayley Westenra. Her song
'Pilot of the Airwaves hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in
1980.
